There’s nothing quite like the rush of hitting the open water on a jet ski. At Island Adventure Watersports, we’ve helped thousands of visitors experience the beauty of Myrtle Beach from the water — and we’ve picked up a few tips along the way to help you make the most of your ride.
Choose the Right Time of Day
The Intracoastal Waterway is calmest in the morning hours. Our first rides go out at 11:00 AM, but if you’re looking for the smoothest water, earlier slots tend to fill up fast. Book ahead to lock in your preferred time.
Late afternoon rides (around 3:00–4:00 PM) offer beautiful golden-hour light — perfect for photos and a more relaxed pace on the water.
What to Wear and Bring
Keep it simple — you’re going to get wet!
- Swimsuit and quick-dry clothes — leave the jeans at the hotel
- Sunscreen (reef-safe if possible) — reapply before you ride
- Sunglasses with a strap — polarized lenses cut the glare on the water
- Water shoes or sandals with a heel strap — flip-flops can fly off
- A waterproof phone case — you’ll want photos, trust us
We provide life jackets for all riders, and our team gives a full safety briefing before every ride.
Ride With a Partner
Each of our Yamaha VX jet skis seats two riders comfortably. Sharing a jet ski is a great way to split the cost — and it’s twice the fun when you have someone to laugh with when you hit a wave. Pricing starts at $125/hour per jet ski, so doubling up makes it an incredible value.
Explore Beyond the Open Water
Our location on the Intracoastal Waterway means you’re riding through a protected nature preserve — not dodging ocean waves. Keep an eye out for ospreys, turtles, and even the occasional alligator.
Want a more guided experience? Our Backcountry Jet Ski Tours take you on a 2-hour adventure through hidden creeks and untouched waterways that most visitors never see.
Book Smart
A few things to keep in mind when planning:
- Reservations only — especially during peak summer months (June–August)
- 24-hour cancellation policy — plans change, and we get it
- Operators must be 18+ — passengers of any age are welcome with a supervising adult
- No experience needed — our team will get you comfortable before you leave the dock
