You’ve booked your jet ski rental, the weather looks perfect, and you’re ready to hit the Intracoastal Waterway. But before you head to our dock, make sure you’ve packed the right gear. A little preparation goes a long way toward making your ride comfortable, safe, and photo-worthy.
Here’s our go-to packing list — tested by years of getting guests out on the water.
The Essentials
These are the items you absolutely don’t want to forget:
Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
The sun reflects off the water and hits you twice as hard. Apply a generous coat before you arrive — it’s tough to reapply once you’re on the jet ski. Water-resistant, reef-safe formulas work best.
Sunglasses with a Retainer Strap
Polarized lenses are ideal for cutting glare on the water, but any pair will do as long as you strap them down. We’ve seen more sunglasses at the bottom of the ICW than we can count. A Croakie or floating strap is a must.
Waterproof Phone Case
You’re going to want photos — the scenery on the Intracoastal is stunning, and wildlife sightings are common. A waterproof pouch (the kind that hangs around your neck) keeps your phone safe and accessible. They’re cheap and available at most beach shops in town.
What to Wear
Keep it simple and water-ready:
- Swimsuit — you will get wet, guaranteed
- Rashguard or quick-dry shirt — great for sun protection and preventing chafing
- Water shoes or sandals with a heel strap — flip-flops will fly off at speed
- Hat with a chin strap (optional) — if you want extra sun protection, secure it
Skip the jeans, cotton t-shirts, and anything you’d be upset about getting soaked.
Nice to Have
These aren’t required, but they’ll level up your experience:
Towel
We don’t provide towels, so bring one to dry off after your ride. A quick-dry microfiber towel packs small and works great.
Water Bottle
Staying hydrated on the water is important, especially on hot summer days. Bring a sealed, non-glass container — nothing loose that could fall overboard.
GoPro or Action Camera
If you have one, a jet ski ride is the perfect time to use it. Mount it to your wrist or chest for epic footage. Just make sure it’s secured — the ICW doesn’t give things back.
Dry Bag
A small dry bag is great for storing your car keys, wallet, and anything else you don’t want getting wet. Leave valuables you don’t need locked in your car.
What We Provide
You don’t need to worry about safety gear — we’ve got you covered:
- Coast Guard-approved life jackets for all riders
- Full safety briefing and orientation before every ride
- State-of-the-art Yamaha VX jet skis — reliable, fast, and fun
Our team makes sure you’re comfortable and confident before you leave the dock.
What to Leave Behind
A few things that should stay in your car (or hotel room):
- Jewelry — rings, necklaces, and watches can slip off
- Glass containers — not allowed on the water
- Loose items — if it’s not strapped down, it’s going overboard
- Heavy electronics — unless they’re waterproof and secured
